Ion Channel Screening
Cardiac Safety
The hERG (human ether-a-go-go) gene encodes the pore forming subunit of a voltage-gated K+ channel critical for cardiac re-polarization. Inhibition of the hERG channel is considered a significant risk factor in the cardiac safety of new drugs and has fallen under increased regulatory review. Essen has years of experience in hERG profiling on IonWorks™ HT and provides a compound profiling service. Essen’s expertise with the technology enables us to achieve compound potencies comparable to conventional patch clamp recording at a fraction of the price.
